THREE Riverside Hockey Club members recently represented South Africa in their respective age group teams at the World Masters Hockey World Cup held in Cape Town. Wendy Snelling, Jacqui-Leigh Goldstone, and Chontel Bilton said “the experience of a World Cup has left them wanting more.”

The World Masters Hockey World Cup 2024, held in October, 2024, in Cape Town, was a spectacular event that brought together seasoned hockey players from around the world. This tournament celebrated both the skill and passion of athletes over 35, showcasing the enduring love for the sport.

Teams from Australia, England, USA, India, South Africa, and beyond came together, creating a global celebration of hockey. It was an inspiring display of dedication, with athletes proving that age is no barrier to excellence.

With categories from 35+ to 55+, the World Cup demonstrated the power of passion and persistence. For many, it wasn’t just about winning; it was about celebrating a lifelong love for hockey and the bonds formed through sport.
