Powered by Our Exceptional Sponsors
Behind every great tournament are the partners who share our vision: growing club hockey, inspiring talent, and strengthening communities. The ECC Legacy Hub celebrates not only the champions and rivalries but also the brands that make this journey possible, ensuring your contribution is part of the sport’s ongoing story.

Legacy Clubs & Champions
Since its inception in 2013, the Elite Club Challenge has been defined by the calibre of clubs it attracts and the legacy they continue to build. The names on this honours list are not just winners. They represent some of the most established and respected hockey institutions in South Africa, including Central Hockey Club, Wanderers Hockey Club, Western Province Cricket Club Hockey, Crusaders Hockey Club, Beaulieu Hockey Club and hosts Riverside Hockey Club. These clubs have consistently set the benchmark — not only through championship performances, but through their contribution to the growth and strength of hockey in South Africa.
Behind every title is a deeper story.
A story of athletes balancing careers, studies, and family commitments while maintaining elite performance standards. A story of early mornings, long travel, financial commitment, and unwavering discipline. A story of teams that show up, year after year, not just to compete. but to uphold the integrity and standard of the game.
This is what defines a Legacy Club. It’s not only about winning titles, but about the role these teams play in the broader game, contributing to its growth, its standards, and its future.
Their presence in the Elite Club Challenge reflects more than participation. It reflects a commitment to doing things properly. preparing well, competing with intent, and raising the level of competition for everyone involved.
Over time, these clubs have helped shape the direction of hockey in South Africa. They develop players, build environments where performance matters, and consistently produce athletes who go on to represent higher honours within structures like the South African Hockey Association. In that way, their impact extends well beyond the tournament itself, influencing the next generation, and strengthening the game year after year aligning with Riverside Hockey Club’s vision.
Many players who have competed, and won at the Elite Club Challenge, have progressed to represent national structures under the South African Hockey Association, reinforcing the tournament’s role as a proving ground for the country’s top talent. As the tournament continues to grow, so too does this legacy, carried forward by the clubs, the players, and the standard they refuse to lower.
